She was the host of the show for nineteen seasons before it was canceled in 2022 after allegations of a toxic work environment.
An expose by BuzzFeed News brought out many allegations from former employees of the show about racism, mistreatment, and a toxic work environment. Employees were reportedly discouraged from making eye contact with DeGeneres off the stage and were also fired after taking medical and bereavement leaves. One employee even accused them of racism.
Ellen DeGeneres has been missing from the public eye since the cancelation of the show. She has reportedly been flipping houses for the past two years and has also worked on new material for her standup show, which is set to be filmed as a Netflix special this year.
