While the show had a brilliant premise that continues to appeal to audiences today, it was originally Charlie Sheen who made the series such a success with his charisma and comedic timing.
Yet, the actor parted ways from the show when he was ousted due to his alleged problematic behavior. But he might have come back, had the production been ready to give him a whopping $3 million salary per episode, despite already having made him one of the highest-paid TV actors of all time.
Charlie Sheen Wanted $3 Million Per Episode Upon His Two and a Half Men Return
Charlie Sheen was already popular before Two and a Half Men, but the actor became a household name when he was cast as the lead in the CBS series. Reaching new heights in terms of popularity, with each subsequent season, Sheen was unstoppable, until disaster struck.
The series was put on a series of hiatus following Sheen’s drug rehabilitation and more (via The Washington Post and Reuters), ultimately leading to the actor’s firing (via EW.com) following his controversial and derogatory remarks against the series’ co-creator Chuck Lorre (via TMZ).
After much drama, more controversial statements, and a court case, the actor was said to be in talks about returning to the show. Made by the show one of the highest-paid TV actors of all time (via Forbes), the actor demanded $3 million per episode in exchange for his return.

Stated Sheen, when asked by an interviewer about getting a raise (via The Columbus Dispatch). And so any chance of his return was quashed by the actor himself, which surprisingly turned out to be a good thing for the show thanks to Ashton Kutcher.
Charlie Sheen Later Reunited with Chuck Lore Despite Berating Him in the Past
Charlie Sheen built up a storm when he entered into a very public feud with Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros more than a decade ago. However, with time, the actor has consistently shown regret and expressed remorse over his actions. Calling himself ‘not a team player’ and regretting demanding an extremely large salary, Sheen has come to realize the error of his ways (via Yahoo Entertainment).
This realization ultimately led to Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen reuniting for his series, Bookies, in 2023. Lorre, in an interview with Variety, stated how everything fell into place the moment he got together with Sheen.
I was nervous, but almost as soon as we started talking, I remembered, we were friends once. And that friendship just suddenly seemed to be there again. I don’t want to be too mawkish about it, but it was healing. And he was also totally game to make fun of himself. When he came to the table read of that episode, I walked up, and we hugged. It was just great.
After years of bad blood, it is inspiring to see that the two celebrities can put such traumatic events behind them. As Lorre and Sheen reunite, fans hope their renewed friendship can lead to more epic collaborations, similar to their hit CBS sitcom.
