For the uninitiated, Astro Bot is the sequel to Astro’s Playroom, a free game that came with all PS5’s.

It sort of acted like a free tech demo for the DualSense controller, as it let people get a proper feel of the device and all of its capabilities. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say it’s still one of the best games that takes full advantage of the DualSense, even four years after its release.

The new Astro is slated for release on 6 September 2024, just a few months away, and the wait has been agonizing. The previous entry was so incredibly loved and was quite impressive, especially considering how it was completely free.

With the release of the game so close, Sony’s gaming brand has been going all-out in pushing promotions forward, dropping clips that make it look as intriguing as ever.

There has been a severe lack of good platformers from big studios (not to mention the recent news of Crash Bandicoot‘s cancelation), so the new Astro game is a much-welcomed release.

People’s Expectations of the Game Cannot Be Quelled

One simply does not have mundane expectations for the next Astro game. Excited fans are already hoping for it to be the best game ever made.

It can’t be helped, especially with how Team Asobi knocked it out of the park with the first game. Since it came pre-installed with consoles, many people gave it a shot when they first brought home their PS5 and became instant fans.

Astro Bot will be a paid game, unlike its predecessor. But if you’re a fan of platformers or Playroom, you definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on this one.

One of the coolest quirks about these games is how they contain so many references to IPs that come under PlayStation’s wing.

Are there any references in particular you’re excited to see the most? Let us know in the comments below!
