Tales of the Shire could not have been announced at a better time because the most recent video game based on the beloved The Lord of the Rings franchise, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, was not exactly the ideal experience. With their upcoming LotR title, publisher Private Division and developer Weta Workshop aim to create a cozy and comfortable adventure that will be much more focused on the Hobbits than previous games.

Players will get to revisit the iconic land of the Shire sometime next year, in 2024, since an exact release date has not yet been announced.

Tales of the Shire aspires to be just as easy-going and relaxed as the Hobbits that it will be centered around, promising a nicely warm experience for The Lord of the Rings fans.

Although neither the developer nor the publisher have provided any extensive details, we know that Tales of the Shire will heavily feature the iconic and hairy Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings universe. The announcement for the upcoming game, centered around the creatures who absolutely love second breakfasts, was accompanied by a short trailer, along with an official logo and key artwork.

The setting in the teaser footage for the title included a desk with plenty of tools, artwork, and plants resting on top of it, while a woman was shown to be working on a drawing of a hobbit.

As the brief trailer for Tales of the Shire continues, the aforementioned woman stops in the middle of her creative process and steps out of the screen. We then hear her open a door, which lets in warm light, a gentle breeze, and various cozy sounds of birds chirping and happy children. Because of the incoming wind, the pages of the book start to flip, revealing even more interesting artwork featuring everything related to the hobbits.

The Tales of the Shire trailer ends with the book closing, with the logo of the game printed on its cover. You can check out the trailer for the newly announced The Lord of the Rings video game here.

Details about exactly what Tales of the Shire is going to be like are yet to be disclosed, but The Lord of the Rings fans can think of some possibilities regarding the nature of the game. It is highly possible that Weta Workshop’s upcoming title is inspired by popular farming simulator games, such as Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons.
