Developer San Diego Studio and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment have finally revealed the collector’s edition for MLB The Show 24, the upcoming baseball sports title that is almost a month away from release. With the preorders going live, fans of the sport can choose between six versions of the game. The more expensive collector’s edition definitely seems to be worth it for pure baseball enthusiasts, though, as it comes with a couple of goodies that are hard to pass up on.
Along with Sony’s PlayStation consoles, MLB The Show 24 will also be launched for Microsoft’s Xbox and Nintendo Switch on March 19.
MLB The Show 24’s Collector’s Edition Is Perfect for Baseball Fans
Popping up and being revealed on the video game’s website, the collector’s edition for MLB The Show 24 is officially titled The Negro Leagues Edition, and first and foremost, it does not come with a physical disc for the game. It seems to be becoming an unfortunate trend at this point, as special editions for games like God of War Ragnarök also came with just the digital code, but Sony Interactive Entertainment is now fully embracing it.
Since it is digital only, the collector’s edition comes with Dual Entitlement, meaning that it can be played on both the PlayStation 5 and 4.
The Negro Leagues Edition for MLB The Show 24 also includes some great collectible items, such as a New Era Hat, which definitely feels like a must-have for baseball fans since that is the officially licensed headwear for the sports brand. Very rarely do collector’s editions of video games come with goodies that one can actually wear and flaunt outside, so this is an excellent move by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Along with that, the special edition also comes with a Physical Steelbook, which just does not make sense considering how a physical disc for the game is not even included in the package.
How Much Does the MLB The Show 24 Collector’s Edition Cost?
The Negro Leagues Edition for MLB The Show 24 is only “available at retailers in the US and Canada” and can be preordered for $124.99 USD or $164.99 CAD, depending on one’s region.
PlayStation has announced that the stock for this specific edition is quite “limited,” so if one is thinking of getting it, they should not wait too long.
To give back to the world, the game is also collaborating with The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum once again, so every time someone purchases the Negro Leagues Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, or MVP Edition in the United States until the end of this year, the title will donate $1 to the museum.
Fans who purchase the collector’s edition of MLB The Show 24 will get to play the game four days earlier than the rest of the world on March 15, 2024.
