Valorant is one of the most popular PvP titles in the world. Be it his intricate map setting or team-based tactical gameplay, there are several reasons for his huge success. However, the diverse agent roster of the game is one of the prime reasons the game has so much love.

Now, Riot Games has to often nerf and buff these agents to balance out their abilities among other agents. Sometimes, these nerfs and buffs go out of hand. Still, there are some agents who are holding their ground after facing all.

Is Viper Still ‘OP’ in Valorant?

Viper was regarded as one of the most powerful Controllers in Valorant. But just like Jett, Chamber, and many others, this American agent too faced one of the harshest nerfs in the history of the game. Chamber was decimated after a big nerf; Jett is still holding its ground; now what about Viper?

Four months ago, in Patch 8.08, this Controller faced one of the most brutal downgrades in her ability kit. After this patch, her uptime on both her Toxic Screen and Poison Cloud had been reduced, and the minimum amount of fuel needed to activate them had been increased as well.

Not only that, players are no longer able to pick the Poison Cloud in mid-round; they are now only in the buy phase. That’s why it’s extremely important now to throw the orb at the perfect place to put the smoke unless you will be like the new players smoking here and there.

Another big change is the reduction of her Snake Bite from two to one. Hence, you can’t be waiting for your enemy to defuse the spike at the far side. Although its duration has been increased to 6.5 seconds.

Fans Are Still with Viper

Despite this brutal nerf, fans still think Viper is still one of the most ‘OP’ agents in the game. Recently, a dedicated fan shared a post on Reddit discussing the agent. He himself admitted that these changes seemed like a lot, but these aspects would never change anything that made this agent so strong.

According to this fan, this American Chemist is still a must-pick in maps like Breeze, Bind, and Icebox. This agent is also the second most picked agent in VCT (53%), just after Omen (66%). As of now, no changes are needed, but the fan wants her fuel to work like it used to in the past.

This fan thinks the agent is fine now.

Another fan thinks too, that the agent is still OP.

According to this fan, Viper as a single Controller might be a bit weak, but as a dual-Controller setup, the agent is OP now.

Even after some of the harshest changes, the agent is still making a mark in the game. Besides Harbor, Viper is the only agent that can wall-smoke. This single aspect can win a lot of matches, for example: you can block almost an entire map with her wall in Bind. Her Poison Cloud is the only smoke in the game that deals decay damage.
