You may have heard stories of how Marvel Studios has an ironclad rulebook that dictates what the stars of their project can or cannot say, but you might not know just how stringent they can really be with them. Actress Lupita Nyong’o, famous for playing the role of Nakia in the MCU’s Black Panther series, revealed that following those rules can be really stressful.
In the past, when she was on the promotional tour of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she had to keep a close eye on what she said and think before she said it so as to not give out information that Disney didn’t want the fans to know.
She also revealed how she used to get an insane amount of e-mails reading the rules and policies surrounding the project’s information, which in the end became exhausting.
Lupita Nyong’o Revealed How Marvel Studios’ Policy With Information Secrecy Becomes Stressful
It’s not a surprise to know that Marvel Studios doesn’t want the audience to know what their upcoming project has in store for them before they are released in cinemas or on their streaming service as this is every major studio in the industry.
But actress Lupita Nyong’o may have revealed just how severe their tactics and policies are when it comes down to the details of their projects.
In a past interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actress along with her co-stars Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira were talking about their then-upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever when Wright stated that she couldn’t talk too much about the details.
When Kimmel asked if the stories of Marvel Studios’ strict policies and media training were true, the Little Monsters star revealed that they were indeed true. She also revealed how constantly being reminded of what to and what not to say via official e-mails puts a lot of pressure on the star while in public, saying:
“There are lots of e-mails that go around of the stuff that we cannot say, and they send it to you many times, so it’s stressful to have your inbox full of these emails.”
Thus, the Marvel Media Training is as real as the actors that receive it and constantly try not to slip up and reveal more than what is necessary at that moment.
What’s Next For Lupita Nyong’o?
While she may have last appeared as Nakia in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with no confirmation of her return in the future, Nyong’o still has a lot of new projects outside the MCU that audiences should keep a lookout for.
In the near future, the actress is all set to play the role of Sammy in the film A Quite Place: Day One with actor Djimon Hounsou, which will be the prequel spin-off of John Krasinski’s A Quite Place franchise. Along with that, she’s also preparing for the role of a female UFC combatant alongside actress Chloë Grace Moretz for her mixed martial arts drama film Strawweight.
