Quentin Tarantino seems to be a big fan of Madonna and her musical career. In the opening scene of his debut film Reservoir Dogs, the characters of the film discuss and debate about the meaning of Madonna’s song Like a Virgin. When the filmmaker was asked about whether he wanted to work with the singer in a film, he had a rather unique/controversial take on the matter

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Tarantino claimed that Madonna was the only actor in the 1990 Al Pacino-starrer film Dick Tracy, who knew the full potential of her. The director also expressed his desire to work with her if the right opportunity comes. He said,

“I’ve always said that Madonna has gotten a bad rap. She was the only actor who knew what she was doing in Dick Tracy. She was my favorite in A League of Their Own. If I had something right for her, I would totally cast her.”

Madonna has been in a series of scandalous moments throughout her career which has affected her reputation, as Tarantino mentions in his statement. It includes the highly controversial music video of her song Like a Prayer which was boycotted by various religious groups.

Smith claimed that the director’s Star Trek would have been a hard R take on the IP and it would have been the greatest film in the franchise ever made. He said,

“I think his vision was just to go hard. It was a hard R. It was going to be some Pulp Fiction violence. Not a lot of the language, we saved a couple things for just special characters to kind of drop that into the Star Trek world,

But it was just really the edginess and the kind of that Tarantino flair, that he was bringing to it. It would have been cool. it would be the greatest Star Trek film, not for my writing, but just for what Tarantino was gonna do with it.”

The director has two projects in development. He revealed (on the 2 Bears 1 Cave podcast) that he will be shooting a TV series this year. In addition to that, he is set to direct his last feature film called The Movie Critic which is expected to start shooting sometime next year.
