The Platoon actor’s chemistry with Jon Cryer was one of the primary highlights of the show. Sadly, the dynamic had to be broken when Ashton Kutcher took over the show from Sheen in Season 9.

The fiasco surrounding the 2003 CBS sitcom is well-known to almost every sitcom connoisseur. The show already started suffering in 2011 when Sheen had to go to rehab for his addiction issues. But things became really bad when the 58-year-old actor went on a public tirade against Chuck Lorre. The renowned hitmaker even had to face antisemitic comments from the actor.

As reported by the People, Charlie Sheen made some disgusting comments against Lorre. He called him clown”“a stupid little man”, and whatnot. But it was too much for CBS and Warner Bros. Television when he violently stated against the creator:

I’ve spent, I think, at close to the last decade, I don’t know, effortlessly and magically converting your tin cans into pure gold.

Charlie Sheen eventually took the feud to a legal battle. Although it was settled, Chuck Lorre was disheartened at his friend’s downfall. The Big Bang Theory creator also commented on Sheen’s firing that the studio chose to make a moral decision as opposed to a financial one”.

It feels awful. I can’t sit there and lie to you. Some of it is very surreal. To this day, I am not sure how I created such chaos and wound up in that headspace. It’s as though there was some alien or demonic possession going on.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Martin Sheen’s son publicly confessed about the Chuck Lorre incident that “there was 55 different ways for me to handle that situation, and I chose number 56”.

But on the other side, Chuck Lorre seemed totally cool about everything and shared that it did not take long for the friendship to rekindle as soon as they reunited. He also added that Charlie Sheen’s acting chops were finely tuned and absolutely killed the role he was given in Lorre’s latest series.

Two and a Half Men can be streamed on Peacock.
