While there were many memorable moments involving the brilliant cast of accomplished actors, a few epsiodes did not hit front and center with some fans. In a discussion on Reddit, fans discussed various episodes the did not work for them on any level, including one titled Ring It from season 8.
In the episode, Ted dates a much younger woman who is not quite 21 yet. Unable to connect with her due to the age gap despite finding her attractive, he decides to break it off before Barney who is engaged to Robin at the time, convinces him to give it a shot in an attempt to vicariously relive his wild bachelor days. After sleeping with her, Ted finds out to his horror that she is actually Carly, Barney’s half sister. This episode felt rather awkward and cringeworthy to one netizen.
Other fans who joined the discussion had their own choices for episodes that they did not like. Many quoted the slapgiving episode of season 5 as their worst experience in the show. Some were not impressed with the episode titled Bedtime Stories while a few others quoted The Slutty Pumpkin Returns from season 7 as their least preferred one.

The series was also criticized for its finale, which many felt ended in a hurry considering how much the narrative had built up over the seasons to this point. While the show ends with Ted and Robin ultimately reuniting following the information that Ted’s wife had died, this arc between the three characters was not given any space to develop, and therefore left fans wanting more.

Over 9 seasons, their on-screen chemistry translated into a lovely friendship which Segel was extremely grateful for. In an appearance onThe Talk, The Muppets actor gushed about his co-star and revealed how she had shaped his life in more ways than one.
Aly taught me a lot about how to be a man, I gotta say. I was 25 when I took [on] the show, and I think we’ve all been through a lot personally. Aly and I have a lot of scenes together, and we spend a lot of time together, and she’s always been there to listen to me and to give me advice. [She] saw me through hard times and good times.
Segel also revealed that Hannigan gave him a lot of insight on the kind of person he wanted to be, and this in turn, went a long way into developing his image as an actor on and off camera.
