The series was also criticized for its finale, which many felt ended in a hurry considering how much the narrative had built up over the seasons to this point. While the show ends with Ted and Robin ultimately reuniting following the information that Ted’s wife had died, this arc between the three characters was not given any space to develop, and therefore left fans wanting more.

Aly taught me a lot about how to be a man, I gotta say. I was 25 when I took [on] the show, and I think we’ve all been through a lot personally. Aly and I have a lot of scenes together, and we spend a lot of time together, and she’s always been there to listen to me and to give me advice. [She] saw me through hard times and good times.

Segel also revealed that Hannigan gave him a lot of insight on the kind of person he wanted to be, and this in turn, went a long way into developing his image as an actor on and off camera.

All 9 seasons of How I Met Your Mother can be streamed on Netflix.
