In a recent tweet by a renowned leaker, rumors of a game based on the popular TV show The Mandalorian have surfaced. While there’s no official information backing this news, concept art made by an EA DICE technical artist named Gav, has been shaking up the community for months. Furthermore, it seems the title could be developed by none other than id Software; makers of Quake and Doom.
If this happens to be true, fans of both Star Wars and action-shooter games have something to look forward to. Especially when it’s based on one of the most beloved characters from the Star Wars saga. Moreover, the setting for The Mandalorian makes for a great landscape involving gameplay mechanics that would work for an exciting action-adventure title.
A Game Based on Mandalorian by a Studio Known for Fast-Paced Action Games
According to eXtas1stv, a popular leaker on Twitter, the game seems to be scheduled for a 2024-2025 release. While the tweet is in Spanish, here’s an English translation:
It has been said in the last few hours that ID Software is working on a game (scheduled to be released in 2024 or 2025, surely) and the waters of anticipation are choppy.
Users who usually have information cannot stop rumoring about the possibility that this project is a licensed title, and among the speculations, well-known names resonate: Star Wars and Marvel.
The leaker further claims that expectations for the same are further on the rise, since previously leaked documents suggested an anonymous title in addition to the already announced Marvel’s Blade.
Expectations are rising especially after documents suggested that Microsoft could be releasing another licensed game in addition to Blade. While all this is purely speculation, what makes things even more exciting is that id Software could be involved.
This is the studio that has brought gamers fast-paced shooter titles like Doom, mastering the art of high-adrenaline gameplay combined with clever storytelling.

If we’re to see something similar with The Mandalorian, it’s hard not to imagine using a jetpack and a bunch of quick maneuvers to get around different planets and go against deadly enemies. Oh, and not to forget the adorable Din Grogu at our side at all times.
This Could Shift the Tides for Xbox Exclusivity
It’s not surprising to expect hype when a game drops into the Star Wars collection, especially if it’s a AAA title that might just take things up a notch. Games like Star Wars Jedi and Star Wars: Battlefront have had their share of players living the fantasy of traversing across a galaxy far, far away.
Now, here’s the important thing; games from id Software fall under the umbrella of Bethesda, which indirectly links them to Xbox, thanks to all the allusions Microsoft has been making for the last few years.
This in turn means that The Mandalorian game could likely be exclusive to the Xbox community of gamers. Maybe it might even be a day-one release for Game Pass. Now, that would really launch the game into new horizons.
Despite somewhat loved releases like Starfield and absolute disasters like Redfall, it’s high time we see a successful game make its way to Xbox as something that defines the brand. After all, there’s already quite the anticipation for the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, which takes a different perspective and spin on the usual Star Wars formula in video games.
Moreover, the concept art for the new game seems highly detailed and straight out of a Star Wars: Battlefront II mod. Undoubtedly, the concept art and rumors seem exciting, and we’ll have to wait until we hear anything official from the studio or relevant companies involved. Until then, all aboard the hype train!
