Mark Wahlberg is an impeccable A-list actor who has made quite a name for himself in action movies. He has starred in major action movies like Shooter, Father Stu, Fear, Pain & Gain, and The Departed. He has been in two Oscar-nominated movies; 2007’s The Departed for Best Supporting Actor and “011’s The Fighter for Best Picture. Walberg is an incredibly skilled actor and quite professional with his co-stars.
So it is quite surprising that despite all of this, the actor is quite frequently mistaken for another A-list actor, Matt Damon, known for his roles in movies like The Bourne Identity, Good Will Hunting, and The Martian. Damon was in an Oscar-winning movie and is one of the most well respected actors in Hollywood.
Do Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon Look Similar?
Some believe Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon to look quite similar, which isn’t quite true. The two have a slight height difference, Damon being a couple inches taller, but their facial features could not be any different. While Damon’s smile goes from ear to ear, Wahlberg’s seems to be more tamed and not expand as much. Damon’s noise is more small and pointed whereas Wahlberg’s is fuller and flatter.
Their physical build is also quite different. Though their body keeps fluctuating depend on what role they have in a movie, Wahlberg seems to be more bulker compaired to Damon. Since there arent many similarities in terms of looks, a cause of confusion between the two could be the type of roles they do, these being in action movies exclusively.
Are Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon Mistaken for Each Other?
Dispite the lack of physical similarities between the two actors, it appears that Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon are confused as each other quite frequently by fans. Wahlberg has talked about this in an interview, stating that it is quite often that fans will walk up to him and tell him that they loved him in The Bourne Identity, a movie Damon starred in. Wahlberg tends to go along with it to avoid having to explain the truth and embarrassing them
“Yeah, he gets recognised for me and I get recognised as him but I never tell people. I never correct anybody. Somebody comes up to me and says, ‘I loved you in ‘Bourne Identity’, I say ‘Thank you, I got another coming out soon’ and I just keep going,” said Wahlberg. “I don’t want to have to apologise then start explaining. Don’t want to think I’m offended, I’m not offended at all,” he added.
He went on to mention that he and Matt Damon have talked about this and this is something that he has also experienced. Someone would walk up to Damon and tell him that they loved him in Ted, a movie that Wahlberg starred in. They just laugh it off and carry on.
