Da’Vine Joy Randolph Wins Her First Oscar for The Holdovers
After an amazing win streak in various award ceremonies, Da’Vine Joy Randolph has won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers. The actress was stunned and clearly emotional as she accepted the coveted award and gave an emotional speech.
She recalled how she wasn’t supposed to be an actress but a singer. She thanked her mother for encouraging her to pursue theater. She said (via YouTube)
“I didn’t think I was supposed to be doing this as a career. And my mother said to me, ‘Go across that street to that theatre department. There’s something or you there. And I thank my mother for doing that”
