Margot Robbie Shares Opinion On Lady Gaga As The New Harley Quinn

Oh my god, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing. I can’t wait to see it. I actually haven’t spoken to her about it. I almost don’t want to know so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.”

In another conversation via MTV News, Robbie expressed her happiness in being able to work on the character of Harley Quinn and tell her story with such conviction. The actress also believed that Lady Gaga would be able to pull it off as well.

It makes me so happy because, I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be like Macbeth or Batman, a character that gets passed from great actor to great actor. It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors have a go at playing. I think she’ll do something incredible with it.”

With a heavy role like Harley Quinn, many speculated that Lady Gaga would use method acting to portray the character with pure conviction. Interestingly, cinematographer Lawrence Sher revealed via the Los Angeles Times that he had a difficult time connecting with the singer.

I didn’t know Stefani at all. Strangely, I felt like I never even met her, even during the makeup-hair tests. Maybe it was my philosophy of not trying to get in their space. And I would say to my crew, ‘Jesus, I can’t crack it. She either hates me or we hate each other. There’s something weird going on here.’

It was not until an assistant director pointed out that she would only like to be called ‘Lee’ on the set. When Sher started addressing Lady Gaga by that name, that was when he noticed she was more welcoming to him.

If that was Lady Gaga’s tendency to lean on method acting, it only shows how serious she is to perfectly deliver her part as Harley Quinn. For sure, Margot Robbie would be even more proud.
