Jack Black Is Looking Forward To A Bowser Spin-Off

Jack Black confirmed that if The Super Mario Bros. Movie managed to be a box office success, he would love to see a sequel or a spin-off that focuses on Bowser’s revenge. He wants to see his character return and he is looking toward a movie or a project which looks into Bowser’s story.

“It would be cool to have ‘Bowser’s Revenge.’ Or a spin-off that’s just ‘Bowser Town.’ Like a whole planet of Browsers. But that’s not my job. I’m not the writer. I’ll do whatever direction they want to go. I’d love to do more. But on the other hand, there’s no guarantee that Browser is in the future. Kung Fu Panda had a different villain [in] every movie, so whatever. I had such a ball on this one. If this is the only one, then I’m blessed and loved the experience.”

He wants to see Bowser get a broader story and fans would be all for it. His performance has been highly appreciated and he is wondering as to when an opportunity like this would arise. Although no such sequel is confirmed till now, it would all be based on how well The Super Mario Bros. Movie performs.

“Then you’re talking with the director and seeing and thinking, ‘Okay, maybe we could try it this way, that way, the other way.’ They left lots of room to explore, and they also did a lot of writing on the day. When I [was] there, we got it as written, and then the director was like, ‘Oh, hold on getting a line from one of the writers.'”

The eagerness to try something new gave him more and more motivation to experiment with Bowser and find what best fits him. Everyone wanted to see the lengths they could go to and make Bowser and Jack Black a merge of personalities in the best way possible. It was his unique spin on the character that allowed the possibility of making Bowser the best part of the movie.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be available to watch in theatres from 7th April 2023.
