Mark Ruffalo and Joaquin Phoenix were roommates when the duo was shooting the 2007 drama film, Reservation Road. While it is usually so that roommates get into petty arguments about household chores, that did not seem to be the case with Rufallo and Pheonix.
According to Ruffalo, Joaquin was not only great to live with but was also a model roommate. What Ruffalo described of the two living together came across as pretty wholesome and warm, showing how much the Joker actor cares for his friends in real life.

Speaking on the Hot Ones, Ruffalo opened up about when he and Phoenix shared a room, This was when both actors were shooting for the film, Reservation Road, which follows an attorney trying to cover up a hit-and-run accident he caused. While they were living together, Ruffalo revealed, that it was Pheonix who did the cooking. The Avengers actor revealed:
“He’s a great cook, and he turned me on to vegan cuisine and so he would cook all the time and he was a great roommate,”
The actor revealed that Phoenix was a particularly caring roommate, asking after The View from the Top actor. It seems that Ruffalo and Phoenix shared a great camaraderie while living together, given how fondly Ruffalo remembers the time and talks about it even today, almost 15 years after the case.

Building upon his comments about the Her alum, Ruffalo revealed what exactly made Phoenix such a great roommate. While the actors were living together, it seems Phoenix was not only considerate about Ruffalo’s needs but also followed up with the actor about his wants. The Avengers actor said:
“He was a roommate who would be out and you’d get a text [saying] ‘you need anything? Need me to pick up anything?’ The place is clean, all the dishes were washed, he’s got a great sense of humor.”
It turns out that Joaquin Phoenix, who has played dysfunctional characters such as The Joker and the Roman Emperor Commodus, is pretty adept as a roommate, taking care of his chores and making sure bare essentials around the house are taken care of, making him the ideal for anyone.
