Poor Things was not a box-office marvel, with only $16.6 million in total collection against a $35 million production budget. Releasing on fewer screens than a traditional mainstream movie, Poor Things seems to be made for the accolades alone, and it is no surprise that Yorgos Lanthimos’ film is getting all the praise. As movie lead Emma Stone claimed a SAG nomination alongside Willem Dafoe, their co-star, Mark Ruffalo, hailed their astounding performances while congratulating the stars on the nominations.

“Congratulations to Emma and Willem for the SAG nominations!! So happy for my Poor Things family. Such a great honor for two of the best performances of the year. I’m biased… but still. I know who I’m rooting for,” Ruffalo wrote on his X.

Of course, fans would also love to see the name of the MCU star on the SAG nod as he has left almost no stone unturned in his performance in the fantasy comedy. Regardless, Ruffalo is happy with his co-stars getting the nods as he believes they are inches away from holding the awards in their hands with ecstasy.

Ruffalo had a wonderful time with his co-stars on the set of Poor Things, especially Stone. Of course, many actors have previously admitted to having fun with the actor as she would bring chuckles in between the takes. For Ruffalo, Stone is goofy and funny. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the actor candidly revealed his experience working with his fellow MCU star.

“You know just how just how funny and goofy she is um and she has the most like ridiculous laugh. You know it’s really intense… She’s just she’s so funny and she’s so much fun, so, you know? She’s such a great actor and and a serious producer that you think you might get more of those but she is so funny and goofy.”

Stone played Bella Baxter/Victoria Blessington in Poor Things. Baxter, a creation of Dafoe’s Dr. Godwin “God” Baxter, later runs off with lawyer Duncan Wedderburn played by Ruffalo. Besides appearing in the title role, Stone co-produced the film with Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Lanthimos. Based on Alasdair Gray’s novel of the same name, Poor Things is yet to land on a streaming platform as the movie is on a journey of obtaining global accolades.
