The 2022 action-adventure movie Uncharted starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Sully, is probably returning with a sequel. Based on the famous video game franchise of the same name, the movie created a crazy buzz on the internet prior to its release.
However, after it made its way into the theatres, Uncharted failed to make an impact like it was expected. But now, despite its dull box office performance, Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland are probably returning for Uncharted 2 as the producer promised to “make another one”.

Following the exploits of globetrotting adventurer Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and his grizzled mentor Sully (Mark Wahlberg), the 2022 action-adventure Uncharted became a popular movie for fans. Adapted from the famous video game franchise of the same name, Uncharted went on to gross $407M at the global box office, against its $120M budget.
Leaving behind the cost of production delay, PR, and marketing, the box office collection of Tom Holland‘s movie made 3.3 times the profit against its estimated budget. Thus, turning the film into a box office disaster, Uncharted went ahead to receive massive backlash from fans and critics. One of the main criticisms against the film was its failure to understand what made the games so special.
But eventually, despite all odds and criticism, the producer of the movie appears to be planning for a sequel. According to reports, producer Charles Roven opened up about his plans to make a second installment for Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s Uncharted.
Uncharted Producer is Looking Forward to Making a Sequel
Although nothing has been confirmed by Sony or the Uncharted crew, producer Charles Roven told The Hollywood Reporter that he has been planning and looking forward to making a sequel for the 2022 action adventure. Bringing back the star cast of Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Roven is willing to try once again.
“We had a really good time with [the first Uncharted movie]. The fans really liked the movie, and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked the movie. So we are definitely looking to make another one of those.”
Despite no official plans, Uncharted 2 appears to be likely to happen. Previously, after the release of the movie in 2022, even Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman declared it was a new hit movie franchise. So now it appears that the movie, despite being not very successful at the box office or with critics, is planning for a return.
Since Uncharted 2 is yet to be confirmed, there is no potential release date, as of now. However, we believe that the Hollywood strikes might have affected the plans to some extent. But now, with that resolved, we can soon expect an official announcement about the sequel and its potential release date.
