The 52-year-old actor Mark Wahlberg once shared that he does not mind the changes that come with aging. He shared he’s willing to embrace these changes to become like the veteran actors he admired as an aspiring actor in the industry.
During an appearance on the Backstage podcast, the Oscar-nominated actor shared that he had several wonderful actors to look up to, from Denzel Washington to Jack Nicholson, along with Dustin Hoffman and Bill Paxton. And now that he is growing older, he wants to be in that position as well.
“So that being said, [I’m] able to now pay that forward and be in that position. I embrace getting older, I embrace playing the dad, I embrace playing the elder statesman.”
He shared that he finds it fun and feels blessed to have such an opportunity. “It’s fun, and I’m lucky enough to still be able to do it,” he said before adding, “so it’s a blessing.” Later, in an interview, he also talked about his future in the industry, as he shared that he plans to leave sooner rather than later.
Mark Wahlberg Talks About His Future in Hollywood
During a 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg hinted that he might step away from the limelight sooner than expected. The actor said, “Sooner rather than later, probably.” He explained that he wants to spend more quality time with his family, as his constantly busy schedule doesn’t allow him to do that.
“It’s gotta be something special to really bring me, you know, to leave home, to leave those guys behind,” he said before adding, “because it’s the biggest sacrifice in the making for sure.” He once again expressed his desire to step away from acting in a recent interview with Cigar Aficionado. “I don’t think that I’ll be acting that much longer at the pace I am now,” he said as per The Hollywood Reporter.
