Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra just got an explosive story trailer during the State of Unreal 2024 presentation and Unreal Engine showcased its might once again. The trailer showcased Captain America hunting Black Panther with the game set in the year 1943, as per the title.

Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities were also showcased in full force as the characters and the overall visuals looked far better than any of the previous Marvel titles. The trailer ended with the release date shown as 2025, and while it’s a long wait for the title, fans wouldn’t worry much so long as the game releases without bugs and glitches.

State of Unreal from GDC 2024 just concluded and the presentation showcased the upcoming game developed using Unreal Engine 5, titled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. The game is set in the World War 2 era and features Khary Payton voicing Azurri, T’Challa’s Grandfather, and the current Black Panther.

Chasing him in the trailer is Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, voiced by Drew Moerlein. Howard Stark, voiced by Joel Johnstone, was also heard in the trailer, though he wasn’t shown. The description for the game mentions Captain America and Black Panther working together alongside a spy and a commando to stop Hydra.

Video Game Journalist Geoff Keighley also shared a clip from the game on X, that showed an extended conversation between the two protagonists. The clip shows Black Panther identifying Captain America in what looks like their first meeting in the game, as Rogers tries to stop Azurri from proceeding any further.

Those who replied to Keighley’s post seemed a lot impressed by what’s shown in the short clip, as Unreal Engine seemed to have done an amazing job with the visuals.

Fans who got the first look were quick to share their impressions about Unreal Engine’s capabilities shown off in the first trailer for the upcoming game. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2021) was the last Marvel title to have come out and it was developed by Eidos-Montréal.

One of the fans mentioned the first look far exceeded the previous games barring the 2021 title.

Another fan was impressed by Khary Payton who has voiced Azurri in the game, while most others were taken by surprise by the visuals. Nothing much else is known about the game and fans are hoping for more details to be uncovered in the coming days.

Fans now hope the actual gameplay looks just as good as the cinematics shown off in the first trailer. The Hydra storyline has a lot of potential to make it a successful franchise for future sequels, provided the first title does exceedingly well.
