Despite being one of the biggest MCU movies to date, which went on to break several box office records upon its arrival. Not every fan was satisfied by the epic conclusion delivered by Avengers: Endgame. Among those, certain fans have recently blasted Marvel for brushing off Iron Man and Thanos’ connection in Endgame, despite presenting a unique dynamic between the two in Avengers: Infinity War.
And these fans haven’t backed away from sharing their thoughts on Twitter and calling out MCU for underutilizing this opportunity, which could have resulted in some great character drama.
Twitter blasts Marvel for not building up on Iron Man and Thanos’ rivalry in Avengers: Endgame
Even though Avengers: Endgame was able to conclude the Infinity Saga in a grandeur fashion and delivered an iconic send-off to its most beloved heroes, involving Captain America and Iron Man. However, some fans have showcased their distaste for the MCU for missing the opportunity to establish a more personal rivalry between Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark and Thanos in the movie.
In Avengers: Infinity War, when Thanos recognizes Stark and says, “You’re not the only one cursed with knowledge”, it hinted at the possibility of them sharing a more interesting dynamic in the future. But despite having a great opportunity to develop this plot point in the future, it was completely ignored in the next entry and some fans weren’t very keen on the decision.
Endgame really threw out six years of buildup to the rivalry and parallels between the Infinity Saga’s main hero and villain after Infinity War more than delivered on these two having a perfect antagonistic relationship to where they are two sides of the same coin

It was an aspect of both characters I thought was gonna get swept under the rug for IW that was elevated to more than what I could’ve asked for before being thrown out to give the two of them the bare minimum for their arcs in Endgame

Thanos had like 3-4 rivalries going on and Endgame went with none of them. Thor and Iron Man got some good licks in, but Drax and Hulk got nothing. Hell, it wasn't even the same Thanos.

Infinity War remains far superior to Endgame.

Glad we can come together and realize Endgame dropped the bag in a ton of ways and was carried by the fact that it was the conclusion and Infinity War was written almost perfectly.

Despite this missed opportunity, many fans were quite satisfied with how MCU decided to conclude their most beloved hero’s story. But even though the character has sacrificed himself for the greater good, his influence will still be felt in the upcoming MCU projects.
Samuel L. Jackson explained that Tony Stark’s death was the reason behind Nick Fury’s absence from MCU
After making his last appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Samuel L. Jackson is set to reprise the role of Nick Fury in MCU’s upcoming Secret Invasions. While reflecting on the character’s absence from the MCU for such a long time, Jackson told Vanity Fair that Nick Fury was allegedly shaken by Tony Stark’s death. And it was one of the prime reasons behind his absence. He said,
“Even Nick Fury can be shaken, you know? He’s up there trying to process what the f*ck happened, you know? And what his place in the world is. The death of Iron Man, the death of Black Widow, with that stuff going on he just kind of checked out.”
Avengers: Endgame is available to stream on Disney Plus.
