While most of the audience might remember Charlie Sheen popularly for playing the role of Charlie Harper in the iconic sitcom series Two and a Half Men, some still remember him back for his heyday as one of the most dynamic stars in the industry with a stellar reputation that one could bank on. But in recent times, he has been surrounded to the neck by a bad reputation and controversies.

And when talking about controversial stars, the name of Robert Downey Jr. naturally comes to mind. Whereas RDJ has turned his life around and become one of the biggest stars of our generation by playing Iron Man in the MCU, Sheen just finds himself deeper in this controversial rabbit hole.

But now, Sheen drops the jaws of the public to the floor in a concept poster by being featured as Iron Man from the ’90s, and Marvel fans are digging it despite knowing it’s fan-made.

The world of superhero cinema wouldn’t have been swimming in success and mass appeal if not for the advent of the MCU, which in turn wouldn’t have been possible if not for Robert Downey Jr. assuming the role of the titular protagonist in Iron Man.

And since this character has been played by the star for more than a decade before his exit from the franchise, it’s borderline impossible to picture anyone else playing Tony Stark on the big screen.

But recently, there has been a concept poster that is going around convincing people that Charlie Sheen is one of the closest stars to play Iron Man on the big screen. This fan-made poster by Redditor jasonandwho posted on r/marvelstudios shows the Platoon star as Tony Stark in a poster that would’ve been made by the cinematic juggernaut if the theme of an Iron Man film had been set in 1995.

Along with Sheen looking like the Stark the Oppenheimer star popularized, we can also see a retro theme-accurate suit that would fit perfectly in the setting of the ’90s. Along with that, Cameron Diaz can be seen featured as Pepper Potts instead of Gwyneth Paltrow, and actor Shawn Wayans replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey from the first film.

While at the end of the day, this might be just a concept, it still shows the possibilities that could’ve been if things were different.

How Did Robert Downey Jr. Become Irreplaceable As Iron Man In The MCU?

The biggest reason why the mention of Iron Man manifests the face of RDJ in our minds is that the star literally made the character the most popular superhero in modern times from a character that only hardcore fans of Marvel Comics knew.

The star’s performance as the superhero is considered one of the best because every mannerism, character trait, and feature of Stark sits perfectly in line with who the actor is in real life, which becomes a major complementary factor in his stellar portrayal. It also helped Stark and his alter-ego feel real when RDJ went around promoting his films, which further pushed the immersion of this character from fiction into reality.
