With so many hero shooters in the market, it’s difficult to find one that does it right! When NetEase first announced its superhero-inspired take on the genre, people were cautiously optimistic. But Marvel Rivals has shown that it not only has staying power but the potential to become something even better.

Overwatch may have been the most popular kid on the block for this genre, but the sequel has not impressed many gamers. The criticism has been so scathing that many feel it could be usurped by the next title that comes along and does it better. This is what NetEase is hoping to do, and the recent gameplay we’ve seen further reinforces that fact.

Fans won’t have to wait too long to finally play as their favorite hero, as the Marvel Rivals release date is on December 6, 2024. What’s even better is that the game will launch free-to-play, with all heroes available, and the hype is real!

Many are asking when the next beta will occur so they can get even the smallest fix before the release of the full game.

Marvel Rivals is riding a big wave right now, and the studio would do well to cash in on the hype. By adding more to the launch, it can make this one of the biggest events in the genre’s recent history.

Some Marvel Heroes May Never Make It to the Game

The title may have a lot of potential when it comes to the hero shooter space, but there are some limitations it will encounter as well. One of these is how these games can never seem to get speedsters quite right, which means Quicksilver may never be on the table. The community wants to see the hero in the game, but NetEase has not revealed any plans that might indicate it is a possibility.

Keeping the characters accurate to the comic books is something NetEase takes very seriously, which could be why a speedster won’t be added. The studio’s handling of Tiny Namor proved that the concepts behind each character go beyond just appearance.

Marvel Rivals has a strong chance to not only compete against but dethrone Overwatch 2. Fans of the latter have been speaking out quite a bit regarding several issues and decisions made by Blizzard, and if they are not addressed, they might decide to abandon the title come December.
