Expect to relive iconic battles between various superheroes and supervillains, as Marvel Rivals will feature a wide variety of special movies and powers. One of the selling points of the game is a feature called ‘Dynamic Hero Synergy’, which comes into play when combining special attacks of various heroes to create even more powerful moves and abilities.

Marvel Rivals has an alpha currently ongoing, and players are able to get a small taste of what the full game will offer. One such skill is the ability to create portals when playing Doctor Strange and looping any characters that are stuck in the portals, in order to achieve terminal velocity.

This is quite similar to what happened to Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, as Doctor Strange did the same thing using his portals. Now, Marvel fans will be able to live out their terminal velocity fantasies, and other epic battles between their favorite characters including Hulk, The Punisher, Mantis, Hela, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Spiderman, Magneto, Star-Lord, and more.

Just like Overwatch and other live-service games, new characters, and maps will be added free of charge as the various gaming seasons go on. Expect to see more of your favorite Marvel characters such as the rest of the X-Men, and possibly even The Fantastic Four.

Everything Else We Know About Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rival’s multiversal story hinges on a clash between the Doctor Dooms of different realities, causing them to collide. This means you’ll likely get to explore popular locations like the X-Mansion and Asgard in the full release. More maps and iconic locations will be revealed as the game approaches its release date. All maps will feature dynamic environmental destruction that can alter the course of the match, and open new pathways for flanking your opponents.

Marvel Rivals was created by NetEase Games, most recently known for Diablo: Immortal, and is being developed on Unreal Engine 5. Marvel Rivals is definitely going to be an exciting addition to the hero shooter genre.

The free-to-play model with a roster of iconic characters also makes it accessible to both casual gamers and die-hard Marvel fans. The game is currently in development for PC and Mac, with no official word on a console release as of writing, but it would be quite unusual if it didn’t come to consoles down the road.
