Most of the Marvel fandom has either been a part of or witnessed the everlasting debate about two of its iconic superhero groups, and Marvel Snap is set to settle the argument once and for all in its new update. In February, the digital card game primarily revolved around the Mad Titan Thanos and his support squad, but as the new season is ready for launch this week, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will face off against their Mutant frenemies.

Avengers vs X-Men has always been a hot topic among the comics fanbase, and since the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be taking a bit too long to adapt the massive 2012 crossover event, developer Second Dinner is taking matters into its own hands.

Marvel Snap unleashed the exciting trailer on its official YouTube channel, showcasing more details about the new Developer Update in March 2024 which pits the Avengers against X-Men. The footage kicks off with Captain America in the middle of an intense battle and all bloodied up as he picks up his iconic shield, while teasing upcoming fights between leading characters from both groups, such as Iron Man taking on Magneto.

Fans also get a glimpse of Wolverine joining forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to take on his old frenemy Cyclops before the trailer cuts to live-action and features the Chief Development Officer and founder of Second Dinner, Ben Brode.

Along with the core theme of the new season, Second Dinner also revealed that there are new cards for players to collect and use in battles as well. These include Hope Summers, Pixie, Cannonball, War Machine, and Mockingbird, making it a perfect combination of major characters from both superhero groups. Aside from that, Marvel Snap is also set to feature “some fresh variants” through its March season pass, with Magneto and Iron Man leading the way.

The Superhero Groups May Be at Each Other’s Throats, but They Can Still Work Together in Marvel Snap

Although characters like Hope Summers are on the side of X-Men canonically, Brode revealed that they can still work quite well together with the Avengers roster, including decks that contain superheroes like Deadpool, Falcon, and Spider-Man. Of course, Summers will be at her best when she is paired up with other Mutants such as Nightcrawler and Kitty Pryde.

Each new card comes with its own specific power as well, for example, Hope Summers will grant players with more energy in the next turn whereas Pixie will shuffle the Costs of all cards in one’s deck.

Similarly, new cards like Cannonball and War Machine will have their own abilities in Marvel Snap. The Avengers vs X-Men event is available now.
