As far as the DCU is concerned, the formative stages are over and done with. With a narrative structure that rivals the best movie lineups ever to be made, James Gunn creates a space for a new league of superheroes. And it is within this space that Bradley Cooper may find a chance to cinch in his next decade or so of superheroic shenanigans, and in a capacity that is more than just a voice with a gun-toting quick-witted raccoon’s face.

Bradley Cooper Among the MCU Actors To Move To DCU?

With James Gunn at the helm, the MCU created an amazing array of superheroes that are an entity of their own, separate from the day-to-day mainstream events that affect the lives of those living on Earth-616. And yet, these Guardians made the audience feel like part of some family that has learned to live and laugh alongside each other despite their countless hardships and personal tragedies. And at the heart of this family is Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon.

But with the Guardians now disbanded and scattered across the galaxy, the actors find themselves at a crossroads that mark the heralding of a new era. James Gunn’s DC Studios plan has already carved out some space for Frank Grillo and Pom Klementieff in considerably important roles, other actors from the Guardians IP have also shown interest in joining the Gunn-led DCU, given their wonderful working experience with him, their trust in the filmmaker, and the sudden freeing up of all the actors’ schedules – ready to join other projects beyond Marvel and its universe.

Bradley Cooper Set To Be New Batman Candidate in DCU?

A lesser-known part of DC live-action history holds a chapter on how the Silver Linings Playbook actor, Bradley Cooper auditioned for the 2011 film, Green Lantern but famously lost to Ryan Reynolds. A major cause behind the actor not getting the part was his reading for the part of Hal Jordan in the ominous rasp of Christopher Nolan’s Batman played by Christian Bale in the Dark Knight trilogy. The studio, on the other hand, wanted to go down a more comedic path.

The role of the Caped Crusader then was a wish unfulfilled for Cooper. After being snubbed by DC one too many times, it was James Gunn’s 2014 foray into the Marvel universe that finally gave Cooper a place to call home, much like his on-screen alter ego, Rocket.

A new report by ComicBook Cast now lists numerous reasons that point toward Bradley Cooper being the perfect fit for DC’s new Batman. The fact that DCU is looking to cast a Batman that is comparatively older and more mature than Robert Pattinson and with Gunn being on the lookout for actors whose work he is already familiar with from his earlier career, Cooper’s chances grow better by the day.

In the meanwhile, the DC chief has also expressed that he welcomes any actors from his Marvel days to try out for a spot on the DC roster and Cooper, along with Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista, feels the same way about the Guardians godfather in return. It looks like, after all this time, Bradley Cooper may finally have a shot at realizing his first and original dream – that of emulating Christian Bale’s Batman on the big screen.

Bradley Cooper’s final MCU film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is now playing in theatres worldwide.
