One of the most under-appreciated performances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, among the many hundreds of those out there, is Frank Grillo’s three-movie appearance as Crossbones in two of the later Captain America movies as well as in Endgame. His portrayal of the HYDRA infiltrator was quite simply epic and filled with action, and we mean lots of action.

But after the character was killed off in Captain America: Civil War, the 57-year-old is now free to join any other superhero franchise that may come swinging by to recruit him. One possible destination for the Kingdom star is a shift in parties, which means an entry to the DC Universe- and his latest Instagram story hints at that move.

Frank Grillo’s Script-Peek Leads Fans To Speculate Over His DCU Debut

When Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff killed off Frank Grillo‘s Brock Rumlow in Captain America: Civil War, much to the tragic death of several Wakandan relief workers as well, fans were heartbroken.

Many MCU fans had their eyes wide open and saw the potential that Grillo’s character had, after all, such a badass villain got wasted over the course of just two movies. However, Grillo’s death set up the story for Civil War‘s internal conflict between the Avengers, so there’s that!

However, the much-beloved actor is now out of a role, at least in a superhero franchise. The actor however did continue working on several MCU TV series such as What If…? as the voice of Brock Rumlow.

Considering the fact that there’s no way for Crossbones to come back as a character in the live-action movies of the MCU, Frank Grillo’s time in the MCU is basically done. But the next possible destination is still the rivaling DC Universe because who wouldn’t hire an actor who can make fans fall in love with a minor supporting character?

Frank Grillo Almost Didn’t Come Back For The MCU

For all the missing that fans are doing for Frank Grillo after his departure from the MCU, the Crossbones actor himself has already pointed out that he almost never came back for the reprisal of his character, Brock Rumlow, in Avengers: Endgame.

As he revealed during an interview with Empire Magazine last year, the Warrior star says he was a bit “petulant” returning to play a part of the STRIKE team that had picked up Loki’s scepter-

“There was supposed to be a lot more of Crossbones. I was the one character who I think should be in more of them, and these other idiot characters are still there. I was being an asshole, being a bit petulant.”

However, it was his son’s wish to watch the grand Avengers movie that brought him back into character-

“He said, ‘This is going to be the biggest movie in the world,’ and he was right. And I had a beautiful time. They did the ten-year anniversary, Stan Lee was there, and I stood and went ‘What an asshole I am!’”

Anything for the kids it seems. His son must have enjoyed it, Endgame was a one-in-a-billion movie!
