Jonathan Majors has had a busy and high-profile year so far. The actor was seen playing prominent roles in two big Hollywood films in February and March namely Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed 3. In the former, Majors played Marvel’s chilling villain Kang and in the latter, a boxing adversary to Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed. The star received excellent reviews from critics and fans even though Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania did mediocre business at the box office. But it wasn’t always an easy experience for the Devotion actor, especially during the preparation for Creed 3.

Jonathan Majors Almost Gave Up During Creed 3 Training

Creed 3 directed by Michael B.Jordan released in March 2023 and has garnered positive reviews from all corners. The film which is the 3rd installment of the Creed franchise develops on the story of Adonis Creed, played by Jordan who now faces a tough rival in childhood friend and ex-convict played by Jonathan Majors. The film with its slick and realistic boxing sequences received praise for its technical prowess as well as the two stars’ intense performances.

Jonathan Majors who submitted to the process completely, spoke about the physical effort and training that he underwent to prepare for the role. Talking about the challenges of bulking up to play a boxer, the star said,

“This is cinema, so I’m going for the cinematic. That takes work. There are, you know, 2 o’clock workout sessions where you’re just crying on the floor because your abs just feel like they just stop working.There are days that I couldn’t feel my arms.”

Despite these extreme conditions of training, the actor embraced and committed to the process wholeheartedly and described his experience as not just a physical transformation, but a spiritual and emotional one as well.

Jonathan Majors’ physical and emotional commitment to Creed 3 has yielded success. The film has been hailed as one of the best boxing sagas with high ratings from critics and audiences. While Michael B.Jordan has been lauded for his directorial debut, many viewers think that Jonathan Majors stole the show, delivering his best in the emotional moments of the film as well. In addition, the raw and intense chemistry between the two stars is considered the highlight of the film.

Creed 3 is the first film in the Creed franchise without the presence of the Italian stallion and talisman Sylvester Stallone.
