Rachel McAdams Lied About Her Medical Condition And Fear Of Horses
Anyone and everyone lies about their preferences, hobbies, medical conditions, fears, and capabilities to get a job and it is no different for actors. There have been many stories of actors and actresses having lied or faked their qualities to bag their dream roles, and so have Rachel McAdams. But the Oscar-nominated actress perhaps took it too far for she not only hid her fear of horses but also her allergy to them.
The Notebook star starred in To the Wonder, which features her character as unduly fond of horses as well as owns a ranch filled with them. So when they asked her about working with horses, she said she was fine with them and even loved them (via IndieWire).
“I’m quite terribly allergic to horses. so it was one of those things where I was like ‘Yeah, I love horses! They love me! It’s gonna be great!’ And then I got out there, took a lot of anti-histamine and prayed that my eyes didn’t explode. My first day, I was in a corral full of wild horses, who’d never been touched by humans.”
And fortunately, the actress somehow got away with it.
Rachel McAdams Is Intimidated By Horses
Not only did Rachel McAdams manage to finish the entire shoot in the presence of horses, but the actress also overcame her fear of the animal. However, she revealed she still gets intimidated by them, as she stated in an interview with The Guardian,
“I’m very intimidated by them, because they seem to have such a soul. It’s almost like they can read your thoughts. There’s a real exchange going on. And it’s not really a light one.”
This incident depicts how determined and driven when it comes to her job. Even with a severe fear of the animal, she managed to portray her character perfectly well, while also not letting her medical condition get in the way of her dream of working with such an acclaimed director.
To the Wonder can be streamed on Hulu.
