Scarlett Johansson lost the opportunity to star in Elizabethtown to Kristen Dunst

During her early days in Hollywood, Scarlett Johansson wasn’t the dominant force in the industry as she is now.  The Lucy actress had to wait a long while before cementing her place as Kristen Dunst, known for playing the role of MJ in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, would surpass her in several instances.

In one case, the Black Widow star was originally considered to star in 2005’s Elizabethtown and came really close to acquiring the role. However, considering the movie was more inclined towards telling a more quirky and comedic love story, the role later went into the hands of Kristen Dunst instead.
