According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Vice President of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, is resigning from his position by this Thanksgiving.
He became the VP and Head of Television for Marvel in 2010 and, since his appointment, he has worked on a variety of projects from Daredevil to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to the cancelled New Warriors.
This news follows the announcement that Disney promoted Kevin Feige to Chief Creative Officer for Marvel. However, according to the report, Loeb has had this departure planned since well before October 15th.
It is unlikely then that his resignation has anything to do with Feige’s promotion but Marvel declined to comment.
It is currently unknown as to who, if anyone, will take Loeb’s place when he steps down. Whoever fills his shoes will still have to answer to Kevin Feige, meaning that Marvel Television and Marvel Studios will be more tied together than ever before.
His tenure saw a variety of shows appear on various different platforms, ranging from Netflix’s Defenders to ABC’s Agents to Hulu’s Runaways. He also set up a slew of animated shows that are also set to air on Hulu.
What will happen to the future of Marvel TV is uncertain but with the recent cancellation of Ghost Rider, it is likely that they be more animation-focused whilst the live-action properties are handled by Marvel Studios.
On Hulu, you will soon be able to watch MODOK, Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler and Howard the Duck. Meanwhile, on Disney+, you will soon be able to watch Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Loki and What if..?.
