Marvel’s Young Avengers have been highly anticipated for quite some time now, considering just how significant they were in the comics. There are quite a few known members from this group, from younger versions of iconic characters, or sidekicks and partners of the Avengers.
Recently, it has been rumored that there is a film of this team, which is already in the works at Marvel Studios. The line for who will appear in it features quite a few recognizable faces. While a majority of them have taken on some responsibility inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe in their stories, there is one character that has only been seen once.
The character in question also happens to be one of the most controversial Super Soldiers in Marvel Comics, including John Walker. This is none other than, Eli Bradley, the grandson of Isaiah Bradley.

While the character has made an appearance in the MCU, through Falcon and the Winter Solider, not much has been set up about what he becomes in his future and his story from the comics. He is the grandson of Isaiah Bradley, who was unwillingly subjected to human testing of the Super Solider serum during the Korean War to kill the Winter Solider. After he was unsuccessful, the government started to fear his existence and he was imprisoned.
Who Is Eli Bradley?
While Isaiah Bradley is quite a positive figure in Marvel Comics, the same cannot be said about his grandson, Eli Bradley, who had quite a rocky journey. He was not born with superhuman abilities. Despite this, he lied to Iron Lad and told him that he was a Super Soldier, like his grandfather and uncle, and became a part of the Avengers Fail-Safe Program. To keep this lie afloat, he would frequently take the Mutant Growth Hormone, an illegal drug, in order to get superhuman abilities.
This is how he got the name, Patriot and was also given the original, Captain America shield at one point. Soon, however, the origin of his powers was discovered and he quit the team. After several failed attempts from its members to get him to come back, he finally joined the team again, only to get severely hurt trying to save Captain America from gunfire. He was given a blood transfusion by his grandfather to save him. Having Isaiah Bradley’s blood in his body, which had the Super Solider serum in it, he ended up becoming a Super Solider himself.
