Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has many Mechanics that have been revamped and some that are new to the series. To make sure you can truly feel like New York’s friendly neighborhood web-slinger, here are some mechanics you should master.

Web Swinging

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s traversal system is most certainly an improvement over the previous games, and it also gives you the ability to change the Swing Steering Assistance in the game. If you want the Swinging to feel more realistic, you can turn it to zero.

You can do so by entering the Gameplay Settings and moving to Swing Steering Assistance. It is maxed out by default, and turning it down to absolute zero will make the swinging more prone to errors. Turn it up or down based on your liking and ride through New York at your desired pace!

Unlike the Swinging, which was present in the two previous games in Marvel’s Spider-Man series, Web Wings is a brand new addition. Miles and Peter can use them to glide across the City That Never Sleeps. You can master this mechanic by practising it and hitting the Triangle button on your PlayStation 5 controller while swinging.

Also, if you come across wind tunnels and updrafts, do not forget to use them, as they can be vital to traversing the city faster than regular swinging, at least until you unlock fast travel in a particular area of the town.

Parrying

Parrying is the best method when engaging in combat to block out incoming attacks and hit the enemy on the counter. Please focus on the spidey sense and press L1 when it turns red to time your parry perfectly.

It would be best if you got the timing right for your parries; to do that, avoid parrying right after pressing the attack button. Doing so will delay your parry and only occur after your attack execution animation is rendered completely.

Fast Travel System and Graphics Modes in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a newly added Fast Travel system, which allows Spider-Man and Miles to skip the web-slinging and get to an area faster. The ability is unlocked when you reach a certain point in an area of the game map and is not present from the get-go.

Once you have unlocked the ability to fast-travel, open the map, place the cursor on the point you wish to travel to, and then fast-travel using the Triangle Button.

The game also provides multiple distinct graphics modes. However, unlike previous titles, the Performance and Fidelity modes come with Ray Tracing. The Fidelity mode offers a 4K experience at 30 frames per second, and the graphics turned up to the absolute highest. If you want the already gorgeous-looking game to look the best it can, this is the mode you want.

The Performance mode offers a 1440p resolution and achieves 60 frames per second. Since the game involves combat, boss fights, and QTEs, opting for the Performance Mode would be wise when you are casually swinging and want to experience the game’s truly next-gen graphical offerings. The fidelity mode is your top choice.

Tokens and Collectibles in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

City Tokens are one of the Token Types in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Four types of tokens are present in the game, all used to unlock different content in the game. Some are used to upgrade suits, unlock gadgets, and enhance suit technology.

The following types of tokens are available in the game to collect:

  • Tech Parts- These are the most widespread and readily available tokens present in the game. When you stop random crimes that pop up across the city, you earn Tech Parts. You also earn them when you do activities that pop in the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man(FNSM) app requests.EMF experiments, Hunter Blinds, and finding Spider-Bots across the city is another way to gather them.
  • City Tokens- These can be earned by completing Photo Ops in the game, Marko’s Memories, and FNSM App requests.
  • Rare Tech Parts Hero Tokens are the hardest to collect and find in the game as they are only unlocked through Prowler Stashes and missions that appear down the line.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, once you reach a level that is high enough to unlock a suit you need to craft it using certain materials present in the game. The type and quantity of parts required for every suit are different.

But apart from suits, these tokens are also used in upgrading your hero’s combat abilities so that you can fight bad guys with more tricks up your sleeve. Whenever you spend resources to unlock abilities, they are unlocked for Peter and Miles.

Some Miscellaneous Tips for Your Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Playthrough

Gadgets in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 add a whole different layer to the combat system.

If you find yourself having a decent amount of tokens, save them and spend them wisely so that you do not need to go token hunting when you are in the endgame. Buy relevant upgrades and suit tech but try to spend generously in order to prevent panic in later stages of the game.

Whenever you are facing enemies, you need to use your gadgets to tip the scales in your favor. Not using them and simply meleeing and parrying will not make for a pleasant experience. You need to be creative and use your Spidey Gadgets to take down the bad guys.

Gadgets in the game now work slightly differently as opposed to the previous entries. Now, they recharge and replenish much sooner in combat making them ready to use in combat. Try them all out for yourself and you will notice their efficiency yourself.

With that, we hope that your playthrough of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be an enjoyable one and that you gain that Platinum Trophy as fast as possible.
