Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been doing exceptionally well on the PlayStation 5. Its recent launch has garnered a lot of positive reviews, and the game is doing well (as expected). However, a small hiccup of a detail, spotted by fans, needs fixing by the devs.

In the last few days, players have been scouring over little details and possibly easter eggs the game has to offer. One such detail has to do with Miles’ house, especially its interior design.

Inaccurate Flag Representation – A Red Flag?

The flag can be spotted inside Miles' house.

When playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, if you pay close attention, you can spot a Cuban flag in Miles’ house. Similarly, similar flags surround his vicinity. The problem is that Miles doesn’t hail from Cuba. Rio Morales, his mom, is Puerto Rican.

Through a Reddit post, user TheHouselessTurtle, blatantly asked about this:

Can anybody explain why there is a Cuban flag inside and outside of the Miles Morales apartment when he and Rio are Puerto Ricans? And very proud about it in the previous game.

On Twitter, a similar conversation took place, which didn’t go unnoticed by Insomniac. James Stevenson, the community and marketing director at Insomniac addressed the issue and put forward a solution that the devs are working on. There’s no official time frame for the same, but a patch will arrive soon.

Another tweet even read:

Hello Insomniacs. You did an amazing job in Miles Morales representing the Puerto Rican culture. In Spider-Man 2, you’ve replaced the Puerto Rican Flag with the Cuban. We would love for the Flag to be updated to accurately represent Puerto Rico.

It’s clear that representation matters a lot for people, so this slight oversight by Insomniac can be overlooked, but the issue shouldn’t arise again.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Explores Miles’ Story Further

Representing Miles Morales through two video games so far has been quite sophisticated for Insomniac. In the last game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we get to live out the life of a young man who is catching up on his newfound potential. Under the mentorship (and friendship) of Peter Parker, Miles explores his identity as Spider-Man.

The gameplay reflects this by giving players new abilities to work with and actualising Miles’ destiny through an ongoing narrative that’s not all about Peter’s role as Spider-Man in New York.

In the latest game, Miles and Peter work together to fight crimes and bring the city to peace. Well, at least until the next big crisis strikes. Originally, Miles is a Brooklyn native and the son of a celebrated police officer, Jefferson Davis. His mom is Rio Morales, who works as a teacher and gets into serving her community as we progress through the game.

In the midst of all this, Miles comes across Peter when he works at the F.E.A.S.T. shelter. During this time, Mary Jane gets her hands on Oscorp’s experimental spider which eventually leads to Miles gaining his Spidey powers.

Later on, Miles’ best friend Ganke Lee develops an app called ‘Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man’ that provides info and activities around town that call for Spider-Man’s help. And thus, Miles ventures into a full-time superhero role across the city.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peters’ and Miles’ lives start crossing paths at a different level when Miles is introduced to Harry Osborn. The game’s narrative closely follows Kraven the Hunter as he begins his hunt for people with extraordinary powers, resulting in a darker turn that terrorizes the city. As this happens, a similar turn takes place in Peter’s life, where Miles now has to intervene and investigate the relationship between Venom’s impact on Peter’s behavior.

Many reviewers are considering the new game’s take on some fresh features as a strong decision for Miles’ storytelling, especially in the context of Peter’s journey. While the newer, larger open world can get a tad bit exhausting considering all the activities that can be done, playing as the two Spider-Men is a great way of introducing players to different perspectives that tie directly into the game’s overarching narrative.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will explore two important perspectives: As Peter, you’ll be re-discovering your responsibility and abilities as a renowned superhero. As Miles, you’ll be putting two-and-two together, being a friend in need and a hero the city can count on. And Miles’ story continues to be incredibly interesting.
