Jurassic World is about to enter its 3rd Streak with Jurassic World: Dominion. The saga of the dinosaurs began with Jurassic Park. Directed by Steven Spielberg, Jurassic park began the International Box Office’s tryst with the prehistoric creatures. Jurassic World has banked on the success of its predecessor trilogy to launch a whole new universe. But they are not the only ones to have used Dinosaurs as plot elements. As a matter of fact, Marvel Comics has already developed and told a story about their take on a world modeled after Jurassic world. That’s right folks. Marvel did it before it was cool.

Spoiler Alert: If you have not read Empyre: Avengers #1, you know what to do.

Marvel has now recently launched the first issue of their massive summer time Empyre arc. Earth is under attack. The powerful Kree Empire has merged with the Skrull Empire to form a new inter-galactic alliance led by none other than King Dorek VIII. The new king is better known as Hulkling. The New Empire has joined forces with the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four to fight a common enemy. The Cotati are a plant like species that intend to destroy all animal life and replace it with plant based organism. The Cotati are a powerful race and even the massive Kree-Skrull Empire and the Earth’s heroes are unable to halt their advances.

The enemy has already breached the gates. In Empyre: Avengers #1, we see that a prominent Marvel Comic Book Universe location on Earth has been overrun by the plant invaders. The Cotati have taken over the Savage Land.

The Savage Land is a region hidden deep within the glaciers of Antarctica. It houses several extinct species of Earth in an ancient prehistoric sanctuary. The area was created by the Beyonders, who came to experiment on the ancient life-forms of Earth, when the planet was still in its nascent stages. Savage Land is still untouched by the horrors and wear and tear of time. It houses many mysterious creatures like the Pterodactyl Super Villain Sauron and several indigenous and unique Savage Land species and tribes. A prominent superhero Ka-Zar and his sabretooth pal Zabu, also roam the Savage Land and protect it from internal as well as external threats. Ka-Zar and Zabu have also become part of the Avengers on occasion.

When Ka-Zar learns that his home land has been overrun by extra-terrestrial invaders, he assembles a team of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and plans an excursion into Savage Land. But when they reach there via a portal, the heroes realize they might have arrived too late, The Cotati have all but taken over the place, killing countless Savage Land species  while on their quest to take over the region. Right beside them lays a dead T-Rex, its skin having been pierced by multiple arrows and spears. The heroes are themselves surrounded by the alien plant freaks in all directions.

Scarlet Witch, Black Knight, Brother Voodoo, and Ka-Zar make for a good team. But they are not prepared for the coming onslaught. The Cotati have a trump card. The plant based hero known as the Man-Thing, has chosen the Cotati’s side. His will has been corrupted and he favors the enemy now. The Man-Thing coupled with the Cotati will be too much for the team of heroes to handle. Ka-Zar was just about to be killed by the Cotati when Shana comes into to save the day. She stops the Cotati from killing Ka-Zar because she wants to do it her-self!!

With Savage Land under their belt, the Cotati already have a forward operating base right on Earth. The immense reserves of the Savage Land will be the fuel the Cotati need to wage a war against the entire planet. With their sights now set on the African Nation of Wakanda, the Savage Land will act as a perfect staging ground for making furthers inroads onto Earth. Maybe the Cotati will turn the dinosaurs into their new shock troopers. As much as we would like to see rabid T-Rexes fight the Avengers for the fate of the planet, we know things are not looking good for the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. They are in for one hell of a surprise.

This version of Savage Land is unlike anything Steven Spielberg has ever given us. It has superheroes, dinosaurs and alien all rolled into one. Beat that Jurassic World Dominion!!
