Matrix Resurrections Theory: Trinity Is A Double Agent Working For The Machines

The new Matrix Resurrections trailer has blown us all away. We cannot wait for Neo to take back the throne of The One and bring the fight to the machines. Lana Wachowski has stuck to the original formula of the previous Matrix movies. But she has also given it a modern touch, giving it kind of a modern-retro vibe. Matrix Resurrections will take the story of Matrix Revolutions forward. But we have only had the glimpse of the first trailer. That is still enough for the fans though. Many have already started cooking up their own theories. We have our very own.

Trinity, Neo’s lover from the original Matrix trilogy is back. But things may not be how we think they are. Everything is topsy-turvy in Matrix Resurrections. Neo is back to being Thomas Anderson, his name before he took the Red Pill. The Matrix simulation in Matrix Resurrections seems to be an upgraded version of what we saw in Matrix Revolutions. Thomas Anderson is chewing the blue pills like candy. He is having dreams of a life he supposedly never had.

Enter Trinity. The trailer shows a scene where Trinity and neo meet in a coffee shop. Both realize there’s something about the other person they can’t quite make out right now. Trinity even asks that has she ever met him. Neo doesn’t know how to answer because he does not have one. It looks like the Matrix simulation has ‘reset’ the memories of the former couple. Neo is who he seems but Trinity, that’s the side of the equation this theory will try and solve.

Matrix Resurrections Theory – Trinity Is A Matrix Program Working For The Machines

The people who have seen Matrix Revolutions know that Trinity died when the hovercraft explosion took her out. So there’s no way to believe that Trinity’s still alive body exists in the real world. Unlike Neo who was re-absorbed into the Matrix, Trinity’s case was a legit death that most fans would agree to. Neo could be brought back. Bringing back Trinity is not possible.

In the trailer, we even see the machines working on Neo’s injured body. It’s a blink and you miss it scene. The body looks to have wounds that are uncannily similar to the ones Neo received in Revolutions while trying to infiltrate Machine City. Keeping Neo alive is beneficial to the Machines since The One goes through a perpetual cycle of reincarnation. if the machines lose Neo, they may never be able to get their hands on the next The One.

But just keeping him alive will not do. The Matrix must ensure Neo remains docile within the simulation as Thomas Anderson. That’s where Trinity comes in.

Trinity’s Job Is To Keep Neo Within The New Matrix

The only reason the ‘Trinity’ program exists is to ensure Thomas Anderson never realizes he is Neo aka The One. If you look at the trailer, you will find the Machine City is still thriving. They have reneged on the truce and are again using human battery pods. If Neo somehow finds out that the machines haver gone back on their word, he will try to fight back. The Trinity program is designed to prevent that from happening. Neo is only within the Matrix in Matrix Resurrections to search for Trinity and be with her.

As long as ‘Trinity’ is around, Neo will never leave the Matrix and the Machines are free to do as they please.

Matrix Resurrections Is A Swan-Song Of How Neo Escapes The Matrix

There are instances where even programs governed by sheer logic falter and revolt against the Matrix. The Trinity Program must have also somehow started developing feelings for Neo. That would explain why she is helping him fight her creator. Trinity was never alive to begin with. So this would mean that when Neo escapes the Matrix at the end of Matrix Resurrections, this would be the last of her we will ever see.

As for Neo, he will escape his virtual prison and vow revenge on the Machines for what they did to him. A new war between the Machines and Humanity is around the corner.
