Despite this, he’s content to be on the list and have the opportunity to take on those roles. In an interview with The New York Times the 53 years old said:
“Most scripts I get have the fingerprints of another actor on them. Brad probably wouldn’t even remember how many of the movies that I’m in that he was offered first, including ‘The Departed.’” Tom Cruise, too. “I’m sure he’s been offered everything before me. Definitely Leo as well. But as long as I can hang on that list, I might get a crack, which is all you can hope for.”
Although, there’s no doubt that Matt Damon is not as successful as these Hollywood Superstars.
Matt Damon Still Thrives Despite Being Overshadowed by Hollywood Giants
In 1997, at just the age of 27, Matt Damon won his first Academy Award for Best Screenplay for Good Will Hunting. Even though he has starred in amazing movies, Damon’s most recognizable work to date is his role in the Bourne movie franchise.
He played an amnesiac assassin—Jason Bourne—in The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).
