Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have known each other for a long time, even before they took the spotlight in Hollywood. Over the years, they have worked on several projects together, with the most recent one being the biographical sports drama Air. However, the iconic screen duo is still known for their collaboration on the 1997 film Good Will Hunting, which won two Oscars at the 70th Academy Awards.

The star duo would later go on to collaborate on several projects in the following years. However, despite being one of the biggest hits of their career, Damon and Affleck have suggested that they would not be reprising their roles as Will Hunting and Chuckie Sullivan on screen again.

During the premiere of Air in Los Angeles, the Jason Bourne star shared that someone pitched an idea for a sequel to the 1997 film to his co-star. “Someone just tried to pitch Ben ‘Good Will Hunting 2′. I sh*t you not — that happened. He told me today,” he told Variety. Affleck added to his statement as he said that the script was not something that they would consider for a sequel.

He also said, “Matt is always telling stories that he should not be telling. It’s not a sequel we’re going to pursue.” The Justice League star also talked about the reason he and his fellow actor might not be able to work together on a Good Will Hunting sequel during an earlier interview.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reportedly shared a bank account and lived together while they worked on the script of Good Will Hunting, the movie that would lead them towards stardom. However, following its success, they both got busy with their respective work and hardly had time to sit around and work on the script as they did earlier. While they have continued working on movies and have also shared the screen several times, the actor further said that they might not get the same environment and time as before to work on a sequel, suggesting that Good Will Hunting 2 might not happen.

Good Will Hunting is available on Max.
