Fans have demanded the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster for a very long time. The title was a revolutionary game for the series. It introduced a charismatic protagonist and new game mechanics, including naval combat. The whole setting of the game, the pirate theme, and the game’s narrative were appreciated by fans.

It was one of the best, if not the best, games in the series. The game was released in 2013, and although the gameplay and story remain relevant, the graphical fidelity of the game has begun showing its age.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster should ideally be next in line. In release order, it comes right after the three games already remastered through the Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection and Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered. It is a good day for fans hoping for the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster.

That is because Matt Ryan, known for playing Captain Edward Kenway, the protagonist in the original game, recently made a Twitter post, which may mean that a remaster is in the works. However, there isn’t any confirmation, and all of this may be speculation.

Actor and voice actor Matt Ryan, known for voicing Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, posted the game’s poster. This has come entirely out of the blue from the artist. Most of his wall is filled with media from his work with the DC Comics character John Constantine.

It is worth noting that Matt Ryan played Constantine in the titular TV show and in series like Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, which aired on the CW. One glance at the actor’s Twitter feed, and Ryan’s latest post looks intriguing. Could this be a hint that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster is finally happening?

Ubisoft’s other pirate game, seemingly brainstormed after Assassin’s Creed Black Flag‘s tremendous response, continues to be stuck in development hell. It has been delayed six times and has finally gotten a release date of Q4 of FY 2023-24. This means we will hopefully see the game come out between early January and the concluding days of March.

Returning to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster, there was a similar new story in June 2023. As per the news, two sources, choosing to stay anonymous, revealed to Kotaku that a full-fledged game remake is in the works. It is in very early stages and won’t be released until a few years later.

This means that, unlike other older Assassin’s Creed games like the Ezio Collection and Assassin’s Creed 3, which were remastered, this may be a full-fledged remake of the most beloved game in the franchise.

The Kotaku report also stated that a team at Ubisoft Singapore has come on board to modernise the game. The tenth anniversary of the game also passed recently, on October 30, 2023. And given that, there couldn’t have been a better time for these rumors to spark.

Ubisoft also commemorated the game’s tenth anniversary in a tweet. Ubisoft mentioned:

Today, we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag! Over 34 million pirates have embarked on this unforgettable adventure through the Caribbean.

Fans of the original game followed this and started bombarding social media with content, asking the studio for an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster. With the significant open-world overhaul seen in recent titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it will be interesting to see if the remake, released at some point, follows a similar formula.

The game’s signature naval combat system, if overhauled, could make for an even better experience.

We reinstate that there has been no confirmation from Ubisoft regarding the same. The only pirate game Ubisoft seems to be working on, as per its announcement, is Skull and Bones.
