NBC’s superhit sitcom FRIENDS will always remain as a reminder of how funny and amazing the late Matthew Perry could be. The best person to ever play the brash and zany Chandler Bing in one of the biggest fan-favorite sitcoms of all time, the 17 Again star had instances on the sets of the show where he actually embarrassed himself in real life.

While Chandler Bing may have embarrassed himself on the big screen numerous times, his portrayer in real life once humiliated himself in front of Victoria’s Secret former model Jill Goodacre in his favorite episode from FRIENDS.

Talking with Entertainment Weekly back in 2004, Matthew Perry shared details about the same and about how easy it was to embarrass himself in front of the former model. He said:

“Let’s face it: Jill Goodacre is hot, so it wasn’t that difficult. I [remember] spitting my gum out, and it stuck to the wall. It was my choice to just stay frozen in fear and embarrassment.”

This happened in episode 7 of season 1 of the superhit sitcom, which was titled The One With the Blackout. In that episode, Bing got locked in an ATM vestibule with Goodacre due to a city-wide power cut, during which, the actor got the chance to humiliate himself rather perfectly.

Not only that but the scene was actually included in the series because the producer ‘loved’ it, as per Perry’s words.

“That was one of those things that the producers loved and it stayed in.”

And the fact that he wasn’t even embarrassed to share it? That was the sign of a real star, right there, and Matthew Perry was indeed one of them.

During the same interview, Matthew Perry also revealed why The One With the Blackout was his favorite episode from all 236 chapters of the superhit sitcom. He said:

“The interesting thing about that episode was I didn’t speak much; it was mostly in voice-over. We prerecorded what I said, and I had to react.”

What further made it all the more interesting was how he felt for the first time the entire cast to be ‘clicking’ together in that episode.

“What was great about that night was that I was also able to watch the other three-quarters of the show, which was these five great actors doing ensemble work that was amazing,” Perry recalled. “This was the first time I realized, ‘Gee, this is really clicking.’”

Yet, what was more clicking was the later icon Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing in FRIENDS–something that will forever be etched in the hearts of all the fans of the hit television series from around the globe.
