The cast of NBC’s hit show Friends has a cast of characters played by actors who consider each other family. Across many interviews, the cast has gotten up to all sorts of shenanigans, many of which have been caught on camera.
While in conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Perry, sitting with David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc, was inadvertently caught on camera, initiating a hilarious string of events that derailed the interview. The three Friends co-stars were close, close enough to turn even a simple interview into a hilarious outtake.
Matthew Perry was trying to silence another interview
While interviewing with Entertainment Tonight, the cast of Friends was split in 2, with the men interviewing in one set, while the women interviewed in another. This was all in promotion of their 20-year reunion for the NBC show.
As the interviewer asked David Schwimmer (Ross Geller) a question, a second camera caught Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) gesturing someone off-screen to quiet down. This also drew the attention of Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), who was curious to see what exactly was going on. After a few more moments of the same, it also caught the attention of Schwimmer, who also decided to play along. When LeBlanc informed the actor that he was on camera, Upon realizing that he was on camera, the actor commented:
“I thought I wasn’t on camera and we are hearing the other interviews”
True to the reputation that the three comedic actors have set up for themselves, what started as being accidently being caught on camera, became a deliberate joke that ran through the interview.
Matthew Perry’s Chandler side came out as the interview went on
While LeBlanc was asked what he thinks the characters will be doing in 2021, Schwimmer and Perry decided to make similar gestures in front of LeBlanc’s face, with Perry eventually getting off his seat and executing a series of steps, reminiscent of Chandler’s infamous dance from the show.
Upon continuing the question and asking LeBlanc what Pheobe, Rachel, and Monica might be doing in 2021, the three of them, in jest, answered:
“They are making a lot of noise, like a lot!”
The interview with Entertainment Tonight was filled with such shenanigans, putting on display how tightly knit the group was. Even now, it is a comfort to fans all over the world that the cast of the series still stay in touch, and are still comfortable enough to be their authentic selves in front of each other.
