Simu Liu has been forging his name in Hollywood with several prominent roles. Following his television role in Kim’s Convenience, the actor got a huge gig, a ticket to the MCU, playing the lead in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Later, the actor landed on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie to play Ken 2. However, the success of the Margot Robbie-led movie changed the actor to a great extent. Speaking with Vancouver Sun, the 34-year-old revealed his post-Barbie life with friends.

“Probably my favorite thing to do is to play into the Hollywood thing, especially with my friends, of how much of a diva I’ve become. Maybe because it’s half true. I don’t know. I like to think it’s not. I like to think it’s still funny. But I like to pretend I don’t know what things are anymore. And say like, ‘Oh yeah, usually I have someone do that for me now,’” Liu said.

Well, it goes quite deeper than that, the actor refrains himself from pouring water in front of his friends. Whether it’s just something “really mundane and simple that completely is something that I do on my own,” Liu continued adding, “‘Oh, you drink your own water. I have somebody do that for me now.’ I love it.” Of course, the actor is in control here, and he’s just having fun with his friends.

Simu Liu Prefers Making Fun of Himself

Joking around his friends by pretending to be a diva didn’t always get the laughter the actor intended in the first place but their rolling eyes were quite satisfactory to the MCU star. “(It), in turn, produces a laugh on my end which, I think, is way better,” Liu told Vancouver Sun. “I mean, why make other people laugh when you can make them make you laugh?” he added. This was a mantra of his life to take it all lightly.

“How I try to conduct myself in my business, and in the way that I interact with the public, is kind of similar to the way that I’ve always lived my life, which is that it’s not really fun if you take yourself way too seriously. I’ve always been the first one to make fun of myself. I always was the kind of guy that tried to get the laugh growing up. I wouldn’t necessarily say I was a class clown. But I just feel like, as I got older and achieved some modicum of self awareness, I just realized that life will get really, really tiring if you just take everything seriously.”

Liu certainly cracked the code to be easy on life.

“If you can make a joke out of anything and find a way to laugh about anything, then you’ve got a pretty good head on your shoulders,” Liu told the outlet. “I guess that’s the mantra that I live by.”

Of course, his values and codes in life will keep him cool in the long run and he will continue laughing at himself.
