About a month ago, Marvel Studios dropped the second trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine. The highly viewed clip lay packed with easter eggs even as it included a complete and detailed look at Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
However, a scene towards the end featuring the famed duo jumping right into a sling ring portal caught fans off-guard and fueled rampant speculations about the involvement of other MCU legends such as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.
Amidst the hype and excitement of the movie reaching sky-high levels, the curiosity of such scenes has also skyrocketed. In search of answers, fans have scoured far and wide, and have now knocked on the gates of none other than the Sherlock Holmes actor.
Benedict Cumberbatch opens up on his Deadpool & Wolverine appearance
Master of the mystic arts, Doctor Strange played a big role in the later phases of the MCU. From nearly tearing open the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home to actually traveling through it in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the character knows his way around. However, in response to the fan query of whether it actually is Benedict Cumberbatch’s version, which opens the portal in the upcoming flick, the actor played coy and brushed it off, in talks with the media, shared on X via Culture Crave.

In addition to this, the 47-year-old also teased the possibility of reuniting with the Avengers before his next appearance on the big screens. Notably, the character stayed largely absent from the early slate of projects from Marvel Studios, including his much-anticipated cameo in WandaVision. Furthermore, the end of the 2022 movie teased his fate after a run-in with Charlize Theron’s Clea.
Regardless, for the third Deadpool movie, it can also not be ascertained who opens the portal because there are several wielders of magic in the current cinematic universe with the capability to open portals. Finally, with rumors of Henry Cavill as a Wolverine variant and several undisclosed cameos rumored to be in the mix, the film boasts strong chances of success.
