In late October 2021, McGregor himself dropped the bombshell that the UFC was eyeing April for his comeback to the Octagon. It had been a while since he stepped into the cage, with his last bout dating back to July 2021 when he faced off against Dustin Poirier. Even now, it isn’t known when he will actually return for good to the Octagon.

Conor McGregor has expressed nothing but admiration for Sydney Sweeney. During an interview with ET’s Rachel Smith at the premiere of Road House on Tuesday, the UFC athlete commended the actress despite initially attempting to spark controversy with her online.
The exchange began earlier this month when Sweeney shared a post on Instagram to promote her upcoming film, Immaculate, set to hit theaters shortly after Road House’s release on Prime Video. McGregor seized the opportunity to interject by promoting his own movie in the comments section.
During the ET interview at the premiere, Conor McGregor expressed his aspirations to collaborate with one of the industry’s leading actresses for his next acting endeavor following his debut in Road House. he would then name Sydney Sweeney, expressing interest in working with her.
“I see a lot of potential in Sydney Sweeney. She’s been making waves lately,” McGregor remarked, emphasizing that his Instagram comments were not meant to disparage her.
“She follows me, so I follow her. I’m a fan. She’s doing exceptionally well,” he continued. “I thought her performance on Saturday Night Live was fantastic. I’m a big fan of the show, and hers was one of the standout episodes in recent years.”
We will have to wait and see whether The Notorious One and Sydney Sweeney will end up working together somewhere down the line.

Conor McGregor is gearing up for his debut in the film industry this year, sharing the screen with Hollywood heavyweight Jake Gyllenhaal. The duo is set to headline a remake of the beloved 1989 film, Road House.
Scheduled for exclusive release on Amazon Prime Video starting March 21, the film revolves around Elwood Dalton (portrayed by Gyllenhaal), a former UFC fighter who finds himself working as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. However, his idyllic paradise soon reveals a darker underbelly.
McGregor steps into the role of Knox, Dalton’s formidable adversary in the film. The Irish fighter boasts that his involvement has earned him the distinction of being the “highest-paid first-time actor of all time.” Despite previously declining offers from Hollywood, McGregor admitted to Total Film that his past interactions with the movie industry may have left him with some powerful adversaries.
“I’ve turned down numerous roles in the past. Directors, even some of the most esteemed in the industry, have approached me during fight camps, but I consistently turned them down,” McGregor revealed. “I may have left a few people disappointed, perhaps even garnered a few enemies along the way because I would always say, ‘Maybe.'”
McGregor had initially anticipated a return to the octagon and planned to participate in several fights before the Road House remake’s release. However, his hiatus from fighting is approaching three years, despite being scheduled to face lightweight contender Michael Chandler since February 2023. It remains to be seen if McGregor will square off against Chandler this year.
