Zack Snyder is not only one of the most talented and adored film directors, but also an exceptional producer, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He has made a name for himself through his massively successful projects like his work in the DC Universe in projects like Batman vs. Superman, Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, as well as his adored projects outside of this franchise like Watchmen, 300, and most recently, Rebel Moon.

The controversy surrounding Zack Snyder’s Justice League is something audiences of the franchise are more than familiar with. The injustice faced by Snyder at the hands of DC is something fans may never forget. It is, however, quite interesting to find out that things would have ended a lot differently for this film if the people close to the director had anything to do with it.

Zack Snyder Was Advised To Leak His Film

With the intense battle that Zack Snyder had engaged in with DC Studios to help save their dying franchise, it is only natural that the director eventually had enough. After the immense support that the director received online for his version of the box-office bomb film, The Justice League, directed by Joss Whedon, under the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, before it was eventually greenlit.

“A bunch of my inner-circle buddies who worked on the movie always talked about, ‘Oh, maybe we just drop a thumb drive somewhere and let a ‘fan’ find it.’ And I was like, ‘That’s funny but I think it’s better if it just lives as this thing that no one will ever see. I’ve lost my appetite for the fight.” He stated

During an interview, Snyder revealed that he was advised by his inner circle of friends to ‘accidentally’ leak his version of the film by putting it on a flash drive and leaving it somewhere for a fan to find. The director stated that while that would have been quite funny, he would much prefer if no one were to see his film rather than see it under such circumstances. He then went on to say that he no longer had the energy to fight anymore. This isn’t the first time something like this has been done as Ryan Reynolds actually went through and leaked an edited part of his film to gather hype, and it worked.

Zack Snyder Did Not Have Much Hope For The The Snyder Cut

It is a good thing that Zack Snyder did not resort to such extreme methods as fans and the director himself were greatly awarded when Zack Snyder’s Justice League was announced. However, with the knowledge of the potential plan that almost went through, a particular comment made by the director feels a lot more interesting.

“It was more just me having fun on Vero with my fans. Did I think there would ever be a version of this where the fans’ rallying cry got so loud that a big company like WarnerMedia would consider this as an option? Absolutely not. I thought maybe in 10 years, there might be a DVD version where they might go, ‘Hey, maybe it’s worth a couple of dollars if we spruce up the Snyder cut.'” he said.

When Snyder was asked about why he was edging his fans more and more about the Snyder Cut of The Justice League on his social media, the director stated that he was simply having fun with his fans online. He then went on to state that if there was a possibility of his version of the film to come out due to the help of his fans, he would be eternally grateful, however, he thought this to be quite unlikely.
