For over a decade, Robert Downey Jr. has been an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but he’s more than just an actor in a superhero franchise. He’s become synonymous with the role of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, and has left an indelible mark on the hearts of fans around the world.
Despite being mostly known as Iron Man, he recently said something that made die-hard MCU fans upset. Downey Jr. mentioned one recent movie of his that has grossed $934 million so far as the best film he has ever been a part of. Can you guess which it is?
Robert Downey Jr. Called Oppenheimer the Best Film He’s Ever Been In
Robert Downey Jr. has a very strong filmography. He has been involved with Marvel since 2008 as Tony Stark apart from playing many other challenging roles in different movies. Fans have loved and accepted him in this role for a number of reasons, including his outstanding performance, his genuine love for the franchise, and his commitment to his fans.
But, as he collaborated with Christopher Nolan for his latest biopic, Downey Jr. believed that this film was the best film he had ever been involved in. The film is Oppenheimer where he portrays Lewis Strauss, the primary antagonist to titular physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer played by Cillian Murphy.
“I’m just going to flat-out say it. This is the best film I’ve ever been in,” he said during the UK premiere of Oppenheimer, according to a video shared by Deadline on Twitter. He said,
“No matter what your expectations are and what you might think, it transcends them. This is what a summer blockbuster when I was growing up, used to be. It just kind of changed your life. But again it’s why Christopher Nolan is who he is.”
Similarly, director Nolan revealed to The Los Angeles Times that Downey’s performance in Oppenheimer is “completely different” from his past roles.

Marvel Fans Disappointed Over His Remarks
Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not only defined his career but has also left an ineradicable mark on the hearts of fans.
In 2019, he bid farewell to the MCU with Avengers: Endgame. His departure left a void in the franchise, marking the end of an era. Fans across the globe mourned the loss of Tony Stark, but they also celebrated the incredible journey he had undertaken.
But when he stated Oppenheimer as the best project in his career, MCU fans could not stop themselves from expressing their mind.

In addition to Downey Jr. and Murphy, the stacked cast for the film includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Kenneth Branagh, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, and Casey Affleck.
