At the end of the film, it was promised that Pratt’s Star-Lord would return sometime in the MCU’s future. While it is unknown where the character will fit in the current MCU, a rumor has circulated on the internet that a solo film centered on the character is in the works at Marvel Studios.
A Star-Lord Project Rumored To Be In Early Stages of Production
The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy has been a beloved cosmic side of the MCU that presented audiences with a flawed and lovable team of misfits led by Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord. Their journey came to an end in a bittersweet way with 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, the film’s ending teased a new future for Pratt’s Star Lord without his team.
It has not been officially revealed how the character will fit in the multiversal buildup to Secret Wars. However, a new rumor suggests that Star-Lord will now lead his own solo film. MCU News and Updates posted on X claiming that Marvel Studios is in early development of a Legendary Star-Lord project with Pratt returning.
The post also revealed that the studio is now searching for a director to helm the project. It will be exciting for the MCU to dive into some unexplored territory regarding the character and discover his identity without his core team. The character is expected to play a part in at least one of the two upcoming Avengers films and this solo project may come out before or between the two Avengers films.
Chris Pratt Set To Star in Amazon’s Sci-Fi Thriller Mercy
Chris Pratt has an amazing relationship with Amazon as he has starred in two of the streamer’s highly successful projects The Terminal List and The Tomorrow War. It was recently announced that he would be back for a prequel to The Terminal List. Now, the actor has another Amazon project, a sci-fi thriller titled Mercy.
As reported by Deadline, the film will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov and written by Marco van Belle. The film which is set in the near future will see Pratt play a detective who is forced to prove his innocence after being accused of a violent crime. The head of Amazon MGM studios Jennifer Salke teased the thrilling potential of the film while also acknowledging Pratt’s successful relationship with the streamer. She said,
“From the moment Chuck Roven brought us Mercy and we read Marco van Belle’s script, we knew the film was meant for the big screen. As our relationship with The Terminal List and The Tomorrow War’s Chris Pratt continues to extend across film, we can’t wait to watch him bring this action-packed story to life, guided by Chuck and the vision of director Timur Bekmambetov.
We could not imagine a better star and filmmaking team to execute on and deliver what is sure to be a gripping thrill ride and look forward to audiences being able to experience it in theaters.”
The film is planned for a theatrical release as the makers are very confident about its script and appeal. The film is expected to start shooting sometime this year and fans can expect more news about the film to come out once filming commences.
