According to reports from industry scooper accounts on X, Marvel Studios is reportedly facing a serious threat of losing its fanbase. Following Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans’ exit, Kevin Feige, is desperately looking for new actors to fill in the gap. But fans are worried that would ever be possible.

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans’ Exit From MCU

Over the years, Robert Downey Jr. secured a significant position in the entertainment industry following his appearance as Iron Man in Marvel. Taking on the superhero role, the actor debuted as Tony Stark in Jon Favreau’s initial Iron Man film in 2008. Thereafter, Downey Jr. ventured into the MCU franchise of Avengers. Reprising his role in the initial 2012’s The Avengers, the actor kept returning as Marvel’s Iron Man in several other MCU projects.

Following his footsteps, several other acclaimed actors like Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Bettany, and more joined the stellar cast. However, most actors commented on the commitment issues they faced and MCU’s strict multi-picture deal that snatched away other great opportunities, which made them think twice before reprising their Marvel roles. Similarly, Robert Downey Jr. and even Chris Evans went through the troubles.

According to reports from Hindustan Times, Robert Downey Jr. noted that “playing Tony/Iron Man was hard and I dug deep. I had an incredible 10-year run that was creatively satisfying” but now, he’s “all done”. Willing to explore other options and critically acclaimed projects in the entertainment industry, Downey Jr. therefore bid adieu to Marvel. Following Iron Man, even Marvel’s Captain America, Chris Evans, made his exit by passing on the shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.

Speaking with GQ, Chris Evans noted how he was initially reluctant to join Marvel Studios. Considering it’s a serious commitment to join a superhero franchise, Evans noted that he was “apprehensive” about playing Captain America. Revealing that he wasn’t initially sure if he wanted to commit to a franchise or explore opportunities, Evans noted how it eventually engulfed him

You always end up questioning, Is this what I should be doing?… I just wasn’t sure if I was moving closer to myself or further away. And something inside me kept saying that I was getting further away—that something about this industry wasn’t healthy.”

Therefore, eventually, when this thought ate him up from within, Chris Evans decided to exit from the MCU. While the decision served him well, Evans’ exit created a catastrophic effect on Marvel. According to reports, as Evans’ exit came right after Robert Downey Jr.’s departure, losing two significant superheroes ended up majorly changing the MCU.
