The Darth Jar Jar theory is longstanding and amusingly absurd, and still something that makes you think twice. So when fans get an official nod to this absurd theory and see Jar Jar Binks in his Sith version, they are undoubtedly going to be losing their minds. Even if it is lego!

Disney Just Released The Trailer for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy

The trailer for an animated special was recently released, which is part of a “four-piece” series. We see Ewok bounty hunters, Geonosian Jedi, the Dark Falcon, and somehow, Darth Jar Jar, of course, voiced by Ahmed Best. The LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy story follows Sig Greebling, voiced by Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things fame. He finds a powerful artifact called the Cornerstone in a hidden Jedi temple, and that’s where the chaos ensues.

And of course, Darth Jar Jar saying“Mesa going to hurt yousa!” ended up being the highlight of the whole trailer.

Star Wars and LEGO have been collaborating for 25 long years, and the upcoming movie will be their latest collaboration. Talking about it, Lucasfilm executive producer James Waugh said:

“Tapping into the comedic genius of Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, two of the most talented comedy writers I’ve had the fortune of working with, we’ve mixed and matched LEGO sets to snap together Imperial X-fighters, Rebel TIE-wings, and yes, even Darth Jar Jar. This four-piece special is a celebration of all things Star Wars, LEGO, and the incredible explorations that can only happen when these two amazing brands come together.”

The trailer looks pretty good, and fans can’t wait to see what happens in this LEGO world, and of course, how the Darth Jar Jar theory found a way to the screen.

What is the Darth Jar Jar Theory?

It has been a longstanding speculation that Jar Jar Binks is really a Sith Lord in disguise. His tomfoolery and clumsiness, which makes everyone seem to overlook the character, is how he has managed to keep his real identity hidden from everyone. Many fans also believe that Jar Jar’s goofy movements and how he avoids near-death situations at all times hint at hidden Force skills.

Speculation also say that his hand gestures resemble those of Jedi or Sith using mind tricks, and that his character is seen manipulating others in quite a few occasions, even if that came of as something dumb because of how he acts. Another reason behind the Darth Jar Jar theory is that this character is George Lucas’ favorite, and he has referred to Jar Jar the “key” to the saga in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace BTS documentary.

In a conversation with The Geeknd back in 2016, Jar Jar actor Ahmed Best alluded to the Darth Jar Jar theory, saying:

“What I can say about it is – and I kinda said this on Twitter – there’s a lot about it that’s true… There are some things that are not true. Could Jar Jar have evolved into that? I think the answer is yes.”

He further added:

“Because of the backlash, and rightly so, Lucasfilm backed off from Jar Jar a lot. But a lot of the influence I put into Jar Jar mirrored a lot of what was already in the Star Wars universe.”

He did not, although, give out any official confirmation on the theory, saying:

“Was there an official Darth Jar Jar in the works? That’s really a George Lucas question, I cannot answer that question.”

Now, though, it feels like we do have that confirmation, even if it is shrouded in a comic situation built of LEGO.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy will be out on Disney+ on September 13, 2024.
