Although there have been hints suggesting a 2024 release, there’s still no official word from Konami. Earlier this year, a PlayStation sizzle reel hinted that the remake could be part of the 2024 lineup, and a Sony blog post included the game in the PS5’s 2024 slate.

Still No Release Date for Metal Gear Solid Delta

A user on X shared that a French website had posted a video which was later taken down, where they had a chance to play around 90 minutes of the game. From their experience, the remake stays extremely faithful to the original, with plenty of enhancements that bring it closer in style to Metal Gear Solid 4 rather than Metal Gear Solid V.

The studio has neither confirmed nor denied these release date rumors, simply asking fans to be patient for an official release date announcement. It is likely that the publisher is awaiting a perfect spot in a rather crowded 2024 lineup.

As for the gameplay, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is being developed by Konami Digital Entertainment which is Konami’s internal development team, with Virtuos as a support studio.

Just like the original game, Naked Snake is back with a mission set in the 1960s during the Cold War. The story remains unchanged from the original, but the game benefits from a massive graphical and audio overhaul, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

This technology upgrade brings the jungles, forests, and swamps of the game world to life with stunning, almost life-like detail.

What makes this remake stand out is the attention to detail in cutscenes and character designs, which adds depth and realism that was not possible in the original. The game is described as absolutely visually stunning, with graphical improvements that modernize the experience while keeping the old-school gameplay intact

Despite these enhancements, there’s no sign of Metal Gear Online, and it is unconfirmed if it will even be added later on, or omitted completely.

Character models have been revamped to show even the smallest details, like facial wrinkles and eye movements, making the in-game experience more immersive.

There’s also an upgraded battle damage system that will leave permanent marks on Snake’s body after gunfights and fistfights, reflecting the wear and tear of the jungle environment.

The legacy gameplay style gives players a third-person overhead view, but there’s a new third-person mode for those looking for a more intense, up-close experience.

While the game promises to stay true to its roots, these new features and improvements make it clear that this game is more than just a simple remake or an upgrade.

The game seems to be shaping up to be a pretty faithful yet enhanced version of the original. Fans will need to keep an eye out for more official announcements, especially regarding the much-anticipated release date.
